Nowadays it is usual for athletes to consume protein, energetic and/or vitamin nutritional supplements in order to increase muscular tone, to improve physical performance and/or to mitigate nutrient deficiency in the diet.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the motivations that encourage sportsmen that practice CrossfitⓇ to consume nutritional and dietary supplements.
A previously validated survey was applied in another study by Crovetto et. al to 169 users (112 M, 57 F) over 18 years old, who attended different Centers of CrossfitⓇ located in the Metropolitan Region. Using statistical software STATA, considering significant p <0.05 for the comparison of variables, analyzed with Fisher's Exact and Chi-square. Supplement consuming was higher in men than in women (71,4% M, 45,6% F), both between 18 and 30 years old (61% M, 73% F), The type of supplement most consumed was the protein with more than one reason of consumption (41,2%).
Many surveyed correctly associate the type of supplement they consume with the reason why they do it.
