Abstract

The neuromuscular taping (TNM) is a therapeutic tape designed to mimic the elastic qualities of human skin. This elastic Tape has effects on five physiological systems: skin, fascia, muscle, joints, circulatory and lymphatic system. The jump is a physical activity characterized by short muscular explosiveness efforts. The objective is to transport the center of gravity to the highest possible, overcoming external resistors using more efficient the available energy.

Objective: To analyze the effect of TNM on muscle power in the vertical jump.

Method: The sample corresponds to 16 female subjects between 18 and 30 years, physically active, which belong to the women's basketball team at the University Santo Tomas, La Serena. The data collection is with the Axon Jump© platform with a Jump Squat test.

Results: Kruskal-Wallis test was use, no significant differences in height, time of flight and speed jump with and without the application of TNM in quadriceps and gastrocnemius muscles were found.

Conclusion: There isn't significant evidence in increasing muscle power with the application of TNM during jumping on the gastrocnemius muscle and quadriceps. Despite these results, there are studies that support their use and support the positive effect in healthy subjects, but their effects and clinical implications remain controversial, so it is necessary to continue with further research.
