Introduction: Lifestyle comprises the set of habits and customs that are influenced, modified, promoted, or limited by sociodemographic factors throughout life.
Objective: To determine the association of sociodemographic aspects with the lifestyle of adolescent Colombian taekwondo practitioners.
Methodology: This is a quantitative, descriptive-analytical, cross-sectional study conducted on a sample of (n=103) Colombian taekwondo athletes. The lifestyle was evaluated using the FANTASTIC questionnaire; sociodemographic data such as age, sex, place of residence, socioeconomic status, education level, and sports category were also collected.
Results: Both men and women show a similar distribution in lifestyles, with the majority in the "good job, you are on the right track" category (72.8%). Most athletes come from a low socioeconomic status, but there are no significant differences in lifestyles between socioeconomic strata. The distribution is uniform among cadets, juniors, and seniors, and most reside in urban areas, although there are no significant differences compared to athletes from rural areas. Most athletes are at the secondary education level, and chi-square values indicate no significant association between education level and lifestyle.
Conclusions: There is no significant association between lifestyle and variables such as sex, socioeconomic status, sports category, residence, or education level. This suggests a uniform distribution of lifestyles among these athletes, indicating that individual and environmental factors do not have a strong differentiating impact in this specific context.
