Comparación de mediciones clínicas e instrumentadas de control postural entre personas con y sin inestabilidad crónica de tobillo

Introducción: Actualmente, existen indicadores tanto clínicos como instrumentados, que permiten distinguir a personas con y sin inestabilidad crónica de tobillo (ICT). Sin embargo, existe poca evidencia que evalúe el comportamiento de variables instrumentadas durante una perturbación con este fin. Conocer esto puede ser de gran importancia, tanto para la realización de evaluaciones preventivas como para el seguimiento de estos pacientes. Objetivo: Comparar variables clínicas e instrumentadas de control postural entre personas con y sin ICT. Material y método: En 21 voluntarios (12 sin y 9 con ICT) se evaluaron pruebas clínicas de control postural, incluyendo: Star Excursion Balance Test, Side Hop Test, Time in Balance Test y Foot Lift Test. Luego, se tomaron mediciones instrumentadas, obtenidas a través del desplazamiento del centro de presión (CDP) previo y posterior a una perturbación. Estas fueron comparadas a través de una prueba t-Student, y su tamaño de efecto se calculó a través de la d de Cohen. Resultados: No hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre grupos. Sin embargo, la velocidad mediolateral media y máxima del CDP posterior a una perturbación, el tiempo de recuperación anteroposterior y la dirección anteromedial del Star Excursion Balance Test mostraron un tamaño de efecto moderado entre grupos. Conclusión: No hubo diferencias entre personas con y sin ICT. Sin embargo, las variables instrumentadas tendieron a diferenciarse más entre ambos grupos.
